Many men and women with diabetes are going to cheer this news. Because their disease is not necessarily just with sex. Up to 70% of men and 62% of women of middle age or older affected by this pathology have sex two or three times a month. It is often the same people who claim to have the same years but without this disease.

Lindu Stacy Tessler of the University of Chicago (USA), is lead author of a study called Project is part of the National Life, Health and Aging. It has involved 1,993 adults aged 57 to 85 years.

“The sexual problems may be a sign of diabetes or a consequence of it that is often associated with depression, lack of adherence to treatment and relationship problems. Studies of sexuality and suffering from diabetes have been conducted with small samples of patients, not including over 65 years. However, data are needed based on a larger number of patients to specialists understand how sexual functioning in people diagnosed with the disease or not, “say the authors in the last” Diabetes Care. This is one reason why Dr. Tessler has conducted this research in the “that provide specific data on the activity and behavior and sexual problems of middle-aged and older,” he says. Scientists conducted surveys on sexuality (frequency of intercourse with a partner or masturbation, sex problems, ability to achieve orgasm, among others). Also investigated the health status of participants or the type of drugs consumed. We also performed a blood test to establish whether they had diabetes or not. “Based on a blood test found that 47% of men had diabetes. 25% were aware of having the disease while 22% had not yet been diagnosed. Also, almost 40% of women suffered (half had been diagnosed and the other half), “say the authors.

The data show that “although the disease is associated with high sexual inactivity, those affected who do have sex they do it with frequency and behavior in their relationships similar to that of healthy people,” reads the essay. Despite this good news, the authors also found that the disease, nevertheless affects the desire and the rewards of sexual activity. Thus, men diagnosed with diabetes were more likely to express a lack of interest in sex and experience erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation than healthy. Recognized diabetic women to refuse sex due to problems like low libido or difficulty achieving orgasm. They (almost half) that consult further with the doctor their sexual problems. They, in contrast, suffer in silence: only one out of five said the specialist.

The study refers to masturbation. “Adults with diabetes tend to practice less than those without the disease.” For the authors of the research is relevant to “the high prevalence of ED in those diagnosed with diabetes (55%), and those affected still had no medical opinion (40.5%) compared with healthy men (32%) . “Not having a diagnosis of diabetes protects individuals from the psychological burden and stigma of the disease. The high prevalence of difficulties with orgasm in people aware of their disease suggests that they have a predominantly physical. Erectile dysfunction and the loss of sexual interest in men with medical opinion may be partly due to the psychological burden of diabetes, the authors determined. For them it is “essential that physicians ask their patients with diabetes and their sex life, especially for women. Attention to potentially treatable sexual problems in middle age and older improve their quality of life and adherence to treatment, “concludes the paper.

Acupuncture helps to slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease and improves both signs and the extreme slowness of movements and tremor at rest, or disease symptoms such as fatigue, so it allows the reduction of drugs and reduces side effects.

To mark World Parkinson’s Day, celebrated on Sunday 11 April, the Licentiate in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Master of Acupuncture Carrillo Beltran notes that acupuncture Neurobiochemistry level decreases neuronal death increases dopamine levels and cyclophilin, and changes the protein expression of the nervous system for neuronal survival.

Moreover, this expert said that diminishes the loss of dopamine transporter and improves its activity, increases the expression of neurotrophic factor, the number of stem cells and the neurons processed in them, and boosting antioxidant systems.

As said Dr. Carrillo, conventional treatment for Parkinson’s disease is effective but not without side effects, besides not always succeeds in controlling all symptoms and end up losing its effectiveness.

In this sense, the expert highlighted the results of a study at the University of Maryland (USA), conducted on twenty patients with Parkinson’s, for eight years, which showed that 85 percent of them improved their symptoms, including tremor, walking, writing, slowness, pain, insomnia, depression and anxiety.

On the threshold of eternity. In 1890, Vincent van Gogh painted this picture often interpreted as symbolizing the despair felt in depression. Van Gogh himself suffered from depression and committed suicide the same year.

This classification has some sort of historical basis, but the distinction is hardly used nowadays. The endogenous depression is characterized by pain latent moral contrast with emotional numbing (also called emotional anesthesia) outside for a pessimism, a marked inhibition, auto devaluation themes and ideas of self-accusation delusions of ruin, disaster, incurable, insomnia with early awakening, anorexia with weight loss, disgust of life inaccessible to any argument. The fluctuation of symptoms during the day is special in endogenous depression: a very strong wake up (morning), they tend to fade late in the day. Overall, the melancholic is disregarding the pathological aspect of his condition and refused any medical use, unnecessary. Form unipolar and bipolar depression: endogenous depression is often an expression of bipolar disorder (formerly called “manic-depressive”). It was initially well defined, tends to be divided into categories because of the evolutionary aspects, family history and therapeutic responses to the same unequal treatment. The form consists of bipolar depression and access to episodes of euphoric excitement, separated by a gap. The pole shape is in turn defined by the repetitive occurrence of one type of access generally depressed.

There are also secondary depression due to drugs, organic disease, psychiatric disease, or depression or alexithymia involution.

In psychiatry the term ‘depression’ of Latin depressio. , “Draft” means a disease for some, or syndrome to others, whose central event is a mental condition characterized by fatigue important, a self-deprecation, pessimism causing significant disruption in reporting psycho-emotional

It is a common disease which affects almost 20% of people during their life and that marks a break with the usual psychological functioning of patients. The risk of progression to the more serious the condition is suicide, especially when it could not be detected and supported. Thus, almost 70% of people dying by suicide in France suffered from depression most often not diagnosed and treated

Do not confuse depression with what is commonly called “coup de blues” or “depression” that reflects a sad passing, normal in a difficult situation.

The term depression has a different meaning or classification in psychopathology and psychoanalysis, which he described a painful psychological process associated with a loss without being necessarily pathological. 10% of French signs of depression
