Diabetes Mellitus : Complications

The effects of diabetes on long-term for our body are important and common.

The organs most affected are the blood vessels (both large arteries and the coronary arteries of the heart) the eyes, kidneys and nervous feeling.

The probability of getting a first heart attack for diabetics is as large as half the risk of myocardial infarction in non-diabetic cardiac patients!

Eye disorders include retinal problems in particular can be so severe that even marked reduction of vision and even blindness can occur.

Renal changes are also common and may eventually lead to dialysis.
