Although the word aromatherapy has not always been about the use of plants, herbs, fruits and flowers for healing have been centuries long. Aromatherapy is still being researched today for its wide variety of uses, including the effects of the healing that has on the body.

The most effective method of using essential oils is surprisingly not verbally, but through inhalation or external application methods. When taken internally oils are mixed with digestive juices and other materials, therefore, change the essential oil chemistry. Foreign methods used to apply essential oils involved, but not limited to: body oils, compresses, baths, lotions, bath and foot rub, applications of pressure on certain points relating to specific areas of the body, inhalation (vapor or directly from the bottle or in a tissue), room sprays and perfumes.

Most essential oils are both antiviral and antiseptic and can be extremely powerful, and with a variety of pleasant scents. An example of that power is the essential oil of oregano, which is 26 times more potent as an antiseptic phenol-an active ingredient in many commercial cleaning.

Due to increased technology have given us many effective methods of natural healing back. Although technology is certainly very useful and profitable, we must also remember everything that Mother Nature has given us and take full advantage of these natural wonders.

Odors in themselves and leave lasting impressions on our mind, body and spirit. How many of us remember a person place or event where you get a whiff of a familiar scent? My grandmother had a beautiful garden filled with roses and peonies during the summers when I was a child. When the smell in my own garden now, I am instantly taken back in time to Grandma’s backyard on a lazy summer day.

Always smells associated with events. Turkeys and pumpkin pies are reminiscent of Thanksgiving, and autumn. Pino and mint brings thoughts of Christmas with our family and friends. These smells do not just affect our noses, but our minds and so, not to mention our bodies and spirits.

For those of you who have not ventured beyond the ‘aromatic’ properties of essential oils, maybe it’s time to take another step forward and do it. With a little integration of these fabulous gifts of Mother Nature in their daily lives, you can discover the many wonderful ways you can use not only for the mind, but for the body and spirit as well.

Acupuncture helps to slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease and improves both signs and the extreme slowness of movements and tremor at rest, or disease symptoms such as fatigue, so it allows the reduction of drugs and reduces side effects.

To mark World Parkinson’s Day, celebrated on Sunday 11 April, the Licentiate in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Master of Acupuncture Carrillo Beltran notes that acupuncture Neurobiochemistry level decreases neuronal death increases dopamine levels and cyclophilin, and changes the protein expression of the nervous system for neuronal survival.

Moreover, this expert said that diminishes the loss of dopamine transporter and improves its activity, increases the expression of neurotrophic factor, the number of stem cells and the neurons processed in them, and boosting antioxidant systems.

As said Dr. Carrillo, conventional treatment for Parkinson’s disease is effective but not without side effects, besides not always succeeds in controlling all symptoms and end up losing its effectiveness.

In this sense, the expert highlighted the results of a study at the University of Maryland (USA), conducted on twenty patients with Parkinson’s, for eight years, which showed that 85 percent of them improved their symptoms, including tremor, walking, writing, slowness, pain, insomnia, depression and anxiety.
